Review: Wordgirl: Fashion Disaster

images-10
Word Girl is a comic based off of a popular PBS Series. I would say the comic is a pretty good representation of the show. The series tells the tale of a little girl who becomes a superhero and uses words to solve crimes. The content is completely appropriate for the demographic and I believe a lot of fun could be had for children and their parents looking to share the comic medium.

In today’s industry it is easy to forget about making comics available to a younger audience.

I feel there have been a few additions that really shine in this area like “Adventure Time” and “Peanuts.” There is nothing lost on a comic that is intended to be enjoyed by younger audience.

There is a lot of content in this issue and the two stories are charming and well written.
I believe the adventures of “Word Girl” will keep a lot of children happy. The art in the issues is pretty on par with the show and the style is engaging and the content is hilarious.

It is important to pass on the love of comics to the next generation and if you’re a parent who loves comics, i’m sure it is at times a struggle to find quality stories that are appropriate for all ages. “Word Girl” lends its self perfectly to that need and will be a great read for parents and their children. If you are looking for a light hearted tale that offers support for education and literacy “Word Girl” is the comic for you.
