Review: The Walking Dead #94

images-6
This is the second issue after Rick and his crew met Jesus and primarily is a showcase of their reaction and follow through with the information they’ve received in the past issue. Rick, ever suspicious, decides on an offensive tactic and opts to take a few good men and Jesus and find out where he came from.

The story is very well written and you’ll get what you expect from a Walking Dead comic.

There is a sense of being on the edge with this whole story and this issue does not deviate. Whether it’s the traveling or the presence of the unknown Jesus you’ll have a sense that something big is about to happen. The one thing that remains is that Rick believes he can be prepared and ready for whatever that may be, I as a reader was not convinced and there are many cues in the story that present the reader with enough to doubt Rick even after our long time following his story.

The art in this issue was great; there is a real expression to the story and the characters within. It is easy to believe in this tale because even amongst the walkers the central characters remain human and the art is a continuous expression of that fact. Instead of being full of walker death, which is still a focus, the story and art centralises around Rick and his group and on their reaction towards this world and the coming “hope”.

The issue clearly informs the reader, through the art and story, that something big is about to happen for Rick and the rest of “The Walking Dead”. The characterisation is done well and really has not lost quality even after all these issues. I am excited to see what will happen next and though I may not know a lot, I know it will be big! This issue may not be accessible to new readers; but, I think that long time fans will not be disappointed.
