Review: Star Wars Crimson Empire III: Empire Lost #4

images-4
This is about the last surviving  member of Emperor Palpatine's Royal Guard, Kir Kanos, and his attempt at redemption by going against those who are attempting to destroy the fragile peace between The Republic and the remains of The Empire.

The Skywalker family features prominently in the story as well.  Storywise, its great.  I love the pacing and the balance between action and exposition.

Mike Richardson, and his writing partner Randy Stradley, tells a good, well rounded story.  It keeps you hooked and invested in the characters involved.  They also manage to give you a good dose of soap opera drama on top of all the action and intrigue.  Great action sequences too, especially near the end. Just two gripes though, albeit very minor ones.  Like I said in my previous review of this comic, I find the villain a little too generic. A more subtle approach would have been better.  Just by his appearance alone, and the few bits of dialogue he utters, you can tell that he is the big baddie.  Also, I'm not really a big fan of the way Paul Gulacy draws faces....and he's very fond of close up shots too.  It seems....off at times.  But other than that, the book is solid and is a worthy addition to your Star Wars collection!  Tomorrow, when you go to your shop, go ahead and pick this up as you wont be disappointed.
